LETTER TO AN INCOMING STUDENT

My expectations for this history class was i taught it will be difficult and i taught i would struggle from all the work i was given but, then i was wrong.

The difference between what i expected was the class was more calm and steady than what i thought.

What i experienced was we did an online blog post to show the entire world what we are learning.

The most important thing i learned was mostly about WWII for example Hitler was very powerful man because he knew how to get followers behind him and that made me imagine to see how it feels to be in that time when you only have to follow a cruel person.

What i could have done differently for a better experience to take better notes from the prezzie so that i can i have better test scores. What i could achieve more success is by taking advantage doing more extra credit to get an higher grade.

WWI-Part One

World War 1 had different names that it is known as besides its original name like The Great War, the war to end all wars.

World War 1 was very deadly and many people died during this time and the best estimate of casualties or deaths were about 14 million people who had died in the great war. 2 million Germans, 1.7 million Russians, 1 million of Austria's men, 900 thousand of Great Britain's men, and more than 400 thousand Italians and many many more people have been killed.

The War had cost the allies 190 billion dollars in 1918 dollars in damages.

Before World War 1 Europeans were prosperous and peaceful for 100 years and in 1893 all of Europe came as friends to the Chicago fair and they were living their lives to the fullest and they were happy.

In the summer of 1914 bad news came in the papers saying that Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were killed in the country of Serbia by Serbian nationalist on July 28th and Austria wanted to investigate the killing of Archduke and his wife and Serbia decided to decline it and Austria declared war on Serbia.

Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd expressed nationalism by saying that Germany deserved a massive empire and he thought that they were the best in Europe and that Germany deserved more.
"Der Tag" meant "The Day" when Germany got into their rightful place which is to b the greatest in Europe and they would have defeated all of their enemies and on August 1st, 1914 "Der Tag" came, Germany had declared war on Russia and two days later had declared war on France.

Causes Of WWI

During 1900's many countries in Europe were peaceful.
The three issues that led WWI  were imperialism, Nationalism,  Militarism, and Bad Alliances.
Imperialism is when a bigger country takes over a less stronger country.
Militarism is when a country is going through the development of its military and navy.
Bad alliances is when you guys are good friends but in the end his the one will blame you for what bad situation he did.
The two sides in WWI were the "Triple Entate", who were France, Russia, and Great Britain. The other side was the "triple Alliance" who were Italy, Hungary, and Germany.

Imperialism in India

The assassination of Gandhi in New Delhi on January 30, 1948. Gandhi was born  Hindu Nathuran Godse assassinated Gandhi because people  taught he gave more help to the Muslims than  his own religion.
The imperialist were the British and took the Indians salt and sold it back to India at a higher price
. Gandhi's best strategy was fasting because everybody looked for him for answers and worried if he was going to live and did what he wanted them to do to stop fasting.
What made  Gandhi successful was that he always made India listen by fasting when there was violence.
Something i thought that was hard that Gandhi did that was very hard was fasting because you cant eat you must sleep. What he showed us trough his life was showing us that you can do a lot  things
and get rewarded without violence.

INTRODUCTION TO IMPERIALISM

Imperialism is when stronger countries took over much of Africa, and controlled its political,  economic and social life imperialism. An example is when a stronger country takes over a weak country.

The African's weren't organized they were divided into many groups of ethnicity and by language. African followed traditional belief, until the steamship was invented.

The African had an abundances of raw materials and a place to sell. When European countries wanted to have a marketing system.

The country was hard to take because of the different groups and the water surrounding it, they fought with spears and fought against the British.

Yes, they was fighting during the Europeans invasion, the African fought the Europeans because African's did not let Europeans take over or conquer natural abundance and land.

THREATS TO CAPITALISM

In the March 15, 2014  Jeremy Rifkin wrote on of the New York Times in which he described a new threat to capitalism  the costant lowering of a product's marginal cost, the cahnge in total cost that arises from producing one more unit of a goal.

The first inkling of the paradox came in 1999 when Naspter, the music serivice, developed a network e. The products that are made have costs and prices that are close to free, and that makes the product no longer subject to market forces. What Mr. Rifkin is triyng to clarify is that we are making havoc by changing the cost of money. If we continue one day everything will be free.

The one  example Mr. Rifkin gives is "Napster". Napster is a music services that developed a network enabling people to share music without paying a single cent. another example that is a threat to capitalism is the Internet overall it provides many ways to entertain humans.

"the Internet of things" is a reference that Mr. Rifkin  uses to describe the Internet. the Internet is full of websites and entertainment that you can find. this affects capitalism because you can know everything without leaving your house.

I disagree with the author Mr. Rifkin. Mr. Rifkin thinks that capitalism is the way to go because there are winners and losers, but if there's an easier way which is socialism. this system is where there's nobody that wins it a draw or we each get a fair share but we both win. I believe this is the best way to live especially In the United States.
